Weekend to End Breast Cancer
Breast Cancer is hard, Walking isn't.

                 Our Cottonwood Walkers

Cottonwood is a proud supporter of the Weekend to End Breast Cancer. Our office manager Shari Leach became involved with the walk in 2004 which was the first ever event in Calgary. The success of the event was so overwhelming that she has continued to participate each year with various teammates. Cottonwood has assisted with fundraising, team shirts, and time for training because we believe it is a great cause, and a great way to get involved.

With the help of family, friends and corporate sponsors the “Ya Ya’s for Ta Ta’s” team has raised over $50,000 since 2004, and are looking forward to adding to that total on their journey to find a cure.

The Weekend to End Breast Cancer benefiting the Alberta Cancer Foundation is an opportunity to discover what it means to be a hero over one amazing weekend taking place July 21 & 22, 2012. Thousands of women and men will unite in Calgary to walk 60 kilometers in a bold display of commitment. The money raised will save lives by supporting critical breast cancer research and care funded by the Alberta Cancer Foundation.

The Weekend to End Breast Cancer is helping us build a world-class breast cancer research program in Alberta. Thanks to these walkers and their donors we’ve acquired specialized equipment and funds for research projects that otherwise would not be happening here,” says Frank Jirik, MD, Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and The McCaig Institute for Bone and Joint Health (U of C).
